In November 2021, during the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Reboot the Future partnered with Unilever to amplify the voices of young climate activists from around the globe. Recognising that youth, especially from the Global South, are disproportionately affected by climate change yet underrepresented in global discussions, this initiative aimed to bridge that gap.
Objectives
Amplify Underrepresented Voices: Provide a platform for young changemakers to share their perspectives on climate issues.
Engage a Global Audience: Utilise Unilever's extensive social media reach to connect diverse audiences with authentic youth narratives.
Promote the Golden Rule: Encourage treating others and the planet as we wish to be treated, fostering empathy and collective responsibility.
Approach
Over the eight days of COP26, nine young activists from East Africa, Asia, South America, and the UK took over Unilever's Instagram account. They shared personal stories, climate facts, and engaged in daily live Q&A sessions with the audience. This direct interaction allowed followers to gain insights into the real-world impacts of climate change and the urgent need for action.
