Rebooting Reboot: Five Years On, a New Chapter Begins

When I joined Reboot five years ago, it was exactly at the moment when we entered into lockdown. Not only that, my first day was also my birthday; and to top it off, I had Covid-19!

It was a particular point of inflection in time, and a good time, I felt, to be joining a movement called ‘Reboot the Future’.

Five years on, we have reached another inflection point. Resource scarcity, and international conflict, democratic instability and trade wars on the horizon.. and in the background, the climate challenge continues to escalate.

In those five years, we have worked with corporates as diverse as Pearson, Marks and Spencer, The Crown Estate and partners such as Institute for Ecological Civilization , Future Food Institute. We’ve assembled our group of Ambassadors including luminaries such as Jonathon Porritt, Dr. Caroline Casey and Sara Roversi. We’ve worked with creatives such as Earthrise Studio, Becky Burchell and LoveSsega and many others. We've taken our work to the #Anthropy #V20 in Brazil and India, consecutive COPs, and Misk Global Forum. We’ve published two books and underpinned everything with one principle- the Golden Rule.

As the world has changed around us again, it seems like a good time to reboot Reboot!

We’re thrilled to share that Reboot the Future is launching our social enterprise, offering strategic support to organisations ready to lead with connection in the face of the climate crisis. We’re taking all the lessons and reflections and partnerships of the last few years as fuel for the future.

One such partnership was working with the Philharmonia Orchestra to develop their Environmental Policy, helping shape a bold and values-driven sustainability strategy.

The Philharmonia’s commitment is inspiring: from adopting low-carbon touring practices and rethinking artistic programming, to embedding sustainability in partnerships and supply chains. Their new policy outlines practical principles, how they travel, truck, programme, and partner, with a clear plan for delivery and accountability.

As part of their mission to create the orchestral experience of the future, the Philharmonia recognises its power to drive cultural change, and to use its platform to inspire climate-conscious conversations across communities.

We’re proud to have supported this work, and it’s a great example of the kind of values-led, systems-aware consulting Reboot the Future now offers.

April 5th is Golden Rule day. From today and for the rest of the month, we’ll be talking about how Reboot uses this simple and timeless principle to underpin personal, social and business renewal.
